As Le Clézio is in the middle of Brittany, the rest of the region is very accessible. There is so much to do and see here, you will never lack for something to do! All well worth a visit:
Pontivy – Napoleon’s favourite town, he renamed it Napoleonville!
Chateaux at Pontivy and Josselin
Mur De Bretagne- restaurants, shopping, walking, riding
Medieval Moncontour – festival in August
Lac du Guerledan – swimming, boating, beach, cycling
Carnac – standing stones to rival Stonehenge
Local Markets – at Pontivy and Mur de Bretagne
Les Jardins du Botrain – amazing and beautiful gardens just 5kms away
La Roche Bernard – fortified village, Thursday market, Michelin starred restaurant
Baie de Morbihan – stunning coastlines and (hopefully) sunny beaches!
Hennebont – the National Stud- guided tours, wonderful horses
Concarneau- fishing port with a lovely walled town and an amazing chateau
Abbaye de Bon Repos – still being restored, situated on the Nantes Brest Canal, Sunday market
Rochefort-en-Terre – has been voted one of France’s most beautiful villages
The Blavet valley, named after the river that flows through it, is one of Morbihan’s hidden gems. Between Pontivy and Lorient, the area is known for its historic chapels, living history museums, Breton horses and outdoor activities – with plenty of opportunities for messing about on the water.
