A rare retreat, surrounded by beautiful countryside, this small private Domaine lies in the heart of Brittany, in over three acres of private grounds adjoining the Blavet River. Ideally situated for exploring the many attractions of the region, or simply relaxing by the heated pool, away from the world. Dating from the 14th-century, this impressive Breton property comprises three beautifully restored houses. We live in the farmhouse, with Brie, our black Labrador. The adjoining Longere and separate Cottage are available to rent, individually or together. Each property offers spacious and supremely comfortable accommodation, large double bedrooms, beds with Egyptian cotton linen, well-equipped kitchens with a fridge full of luxuries, immaculate bathrooms, and comfy living spaces with flat screen TV, wifi, and a complimentary bar. Both houses have their own terrace, fully furnished for outdoor living. Bikes are available to borrow for both grown-ups and kids, there’s tennis, riding, golf, and boating nearby. In Pontivy, a short drive away, you will find award-winning restaurants, a Monday market, lots of specialist shops, and supermarkets.
ézio is set in over three acres of gardens and woodland, and borders the River Blavet, which forms part of the Nantes–Brest canal system. The gardens offer direct (and unfenced) access to the river and towpath, so you can borrow a bicycle, take a picnic basket and disappear off for the day, to explore at your leisure. A walk or cycle ride along the towpath is a scenic and peaceful experience, no crowds, no rush. Summertime is great for seeing wildlife too, there are at least two otter holts along this stretch of the Blavet at the moment, and you can also spot red kite, herons, kingfishers and woodpeckers amongst the very varied bird population.
Neulliac village is just a mile away and offers a range of facilities, including a bar and boulangerie, creperie, pharmacy, hairdresser, and a tennis court which is free to use. There are some excellent restaurants close at hand, at St Aignan and Mur de Bretagne, just 5 km away. Several offer great value 3-course lunches for around 12 euros a head, with wine or soft drinks included. Pontivy is approximately 5 miles away, (10 minutes drive) and offers a wide range of restaurants, supermarkets, shops and bars. Market day in Pontivy is Monday, and it’s well worth a visit for fabulous fresh local produce.
